What a weekend, for some it all started on Friday, the preperation phase. New skill were learnt, notable tarmacing pot holes.
There seemed to be hundreds of AFD runners, creating an atmoshire unlike any other. Graham Richards from Ronhill sports, whom sponsor AFD, presented the club with a cheque for £2,000 in recognition for last years performances.
In the young athletes races the Under 15 boys (Robbie Coupland, Tom Fitch, Jake Cvethovic and Jack Boswell) came 3rd.
In the senior ladies race, in all modisty AFD knew they had a fantastic team, with an extremly strong B team and so it proved. The A team: Montana Jones, Lily Partridge, Steph Twell and Emelia Gorecka won followed home by the B team of Emily Hosker Thornhill, Jess Andrews, Georgie Bruinvels and Louise Small with the C team 6th, D team 12th and E team 19th
In the top 20 fastest times AFD ladies had 8, a truily dominate performance.
On Sunday the Senior men lined up with 80 plus teams, for what was considered to be a fairly open race with Newham, Kent and Bedford expect to be out front. The race started with Belgrave’s Nick Goolab storming away from the field with the fastest time of the day
Belgrave held the lead till the end of leg 3 when the AFD team (Neil Phillips, Ian Bailey, Josh Grace, Tom Wade, Elliot Palmer and Joe Morwood) hit the front which they held to the end despite challenges from Bedford and Newham.
