Ron Hill MBE becomes a Freeman of the Borough of Hyndburn

Ron returned to his former hometown to receive the Freedom of the Borough. A formal presentation was coupled with several tributes.

This was Ron’s second visit to the town in recent weeks, the first being to meet the Queen and Prince Philip as part of their Jubilee Tour.

Two current pupils of Ron’s former primary school made a special presentation to Ron and in addition he received a framed photograph of his achievements and a specially printed club vest commemorating the special occasion.

Following the formal presentation by the Mayor, a three-mile run took place with many runners from local running clubs and schools.
