Men's Tech Race Short

If any product symbolises the deep heritage we have in running this would be it. Ron first pioneered the split racing short when stood on the start line of a race over 55 years ago. Frustrated with the lack of freedom his shorts were giving him he ripped the sides of them so he could maximise his stride.

What was a simple yet primitive solution at that race quickly became a defining classic product in our running movement. Ron took the ripped shorts and prototyped a proper racing version utilising his doctorate in textile chemistry and knowledge of synthetic fabrics to create an iconic product that is now symbolic of race day. 

Today’s race short is an evolution of that first design and pays tribute in every thread and design detail to what Ron created on that start line. What led Ron to perform to the highest of his powers also allows you to perform to your greatest potential.

The Tech Race Short is our most technical race short.  The ultralight Aeroweave fabric is a recycled polyester with elastane for great stretch and recovery.  This fabric features a melting yarn, and this enables a mesh like structure to be formed during the manufacturing process which allows for complete airflow.  The inner brief uses a super light recycled polyester knit fabric for support and breathability.

The shape of the short features a completely open split at the side of the leg giving absolute freedom of movement. The side spilt is bonded for a light and clean finish. In effect the back panel stays in place and slightly wraps around to the front. The front panel is what moves with you as you stride.

Storage is minimal as it should be on a racer short.  The optimum solution is a small zip secure pkt for a key or card, and our gel loop system which can carry at least 2 gels. There are a different number of V shaped gel loops on each side to allow for any size of gel. We have tested a variety of brands and sizes, and all are compatible.

To ensure a comfortable run we’ve selected a soft elastic that sits against the body, coupled with a continuous elastic drawcord that is flat, light and won’t get lost in the wash.  Lastly, we have added discreet reflectivity on the back hem.
